A new program to encourage breeding and showing of Ontario Percherons.
Don’t miss the July 1st deadline!
Eligibility:
1. Participant must be a member of the OPHA.
2. Offspring out of a mare owned by a resident of Ontario at the time of service.
3. Offspring does not have to be sired by an Ontario Sire.
4. Offspring of mares owned outside Ontario bred by an Ontario bred or owned sire.
Rules:
1. Animals must be nominated by July 1st of the current year. No late entries under any circumstances.
2. Entries must be accompanied by a copy of registration papers or a copy of the application for registration to be eligible.
3. Nomination fee is $50 per animal per year. If nominating an animal that is a yearling or 2 yr. old for the first time you must pay the nomination fee for each year plus a penalty of $25 per year. (example: if you nominate a yearling the fee would be $50 for current year plus $75 for year animal was born = $125.00; if you nominate a 2yr old the fee would be $50 for current year plus $75 for year animal was a yearling + $75 for year animal was a foal = $200.00) NOTE: Since this is the first year of the program all animals nominated (regardless of age) will be $50.
4. A certificate will be issued for each animal nominated bearing the horses name, registration number, sire and dam with their respective registration numbers and owner’s name and address.
5. The certificate plus a copy of the registration papers must be available at ringside at each show, for an OPHA official to review.
6. Awards will be determined with the highest points accumulated by the animal over their best 5 shows.
7. Prize money and token award will be awarded at the OPHA annual banquet.
8. Qualifying shows are: Renfrew, Navan, Carp, Lindsay, CNE, Royal Winter Fair, Rockton, Paris, and Simcoe.
9. Qualifying breeding classes are: Filly Foal, Stud Foal, Yearling Filly, Yearling Stallion, 2 yr. old Filly and 2 yr. old Stallion
Payout: Award payout will be 1st 30%; 2nd 25%; 3rd 20%; 4th 15%; and 5th 10%
10% of the nomination fee will be retained and applied to payout when eligible animals are awarded at 2 years old. 5% of the nomination fee will be retained and applied to payout when eligible animals are awarded at 1 year old. For instance:
1st Year: nominated as a foal by July 1st, 2010
$50.00 nomination fee
The $50.00 nomination fee is allocated as follows:
$5.00 towards 2 yr. old payout in 2012
$2.50 towards yearling payout in 2011
$42.50 towards foal payout in 2010
2nd Year: renominated by July 1st, 2011 as a yearling
$50.00 nomination fee
The $50.00 nomination fee is allocated as follows:
$5.00 towards 2 yr. old payout in 2012
$45.00 towards yearling payout in 2011
3rd Year: renominated by July 1st, 2012
$50.00 nomination fee
The $50 nomination fee is allocated completed to the 2 yr. old payout in 2012.
